Co-winner of last year’s Who Is On Next Uomo? award, Super Duper Hats premiered its Gandy Dancer collection in Florence on Tuesday. The Italian brand drew its inspiration from the felt hats worn by the rustic American railroad workers – or gandy dancers – of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These laborers earned this designation as a way to describe the almost rhythmic movements of their work as they moved in unison with one another, often timed by chants and songs. The expertly-crafted headwear brand looked to this period of American industrialization with hopes of bringing back the appeal of those timeless hats with their worn look and rich heritage. Be on the lookout for its 2014 fall/winter collection to appear at select retailers around the globe later this year.
