Never far from intriguing adaptations of dapper menswear classics, Salvatore Ferragamo celebrated its 2014 fall/winter collection at Milan Fashion Week. Headed by Massimiliano Giornetti, collection was heavily influenced by the designer’s fascination with rug patterns. Departing from the often retro feel known to the label, this collection went for the cosy, smokey hues of the fire side as a core motif, with stripes and woven threads taking on coats, jackets and two-piece suits. Jackets are tailored just above the waist, while double-breasted blazers are tied at the waist for a distinctly Italian and rakish look. A diverse collection that doesn’t forgo wearability, the Italian label again celebrates classic sartorial structure with a compelling edge.
