The realm of ‘wearable technology’ receives another unlikely entrant today with the Nismo Smartwatch from Japanese automaker Nissan. Designed within Nissan’s motorsports and performance division – Nismo – this concept wristwatch will not only tell time, but also connect the driver to his/her whip through a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. Meant specifically for racers, it’ll monitor and analyze a vehicle’s performance as well as the driver’s heart rate to then upload to certain social media outlets. As an added bonus, the Nismo Smartwatch will work out patterns between both the driver’s and the car’s performance to give him/her tips on how to improve economy output. Although this piece is far from reaching a widespread commercial release, it’ll be on display at this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show.
