Miley Cyrus Covers the October 10, 2013 Issue of Rolling Stone

After the release of now two controversial videos, a VMA performance for the ages, and more than her fair share of internet criticism, Miley Cyrus has created a lot of buzz over the past year. Rolling Stone jumped on one of the most interesting stories currently buzzing, immortalizing the 20-year-old artist in a cover story interview. Author Josh Eells does well to emphasize that Cyrus is the product of an era where ‘cultural appropriation’ isn’t so much an argument, what with the ubiquity of the internet and the quick absorption of subcultures into the mainstream. Despite all this, the artist cannot seem to shake being perceived as a symbol of prudence.
