Hosted by actor and comedian Chris Tucker, the BET Awards 2013 went down at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. The featured performances gathered some of music industry’s who’s who. A$AP Ferg put in “Work” alongside ScHoolboy Q, French Montana, and Trinidad Jame$ during the pre-show while Janelle Monáe and Erykah Badu represented royalty on stage. In addition, A$AP Rocky and 2 Chainz gave their live rendition of “Fuckin’ Problems” as Miguel joined forces with Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole respectively for “How Many Drinks” and “Power Trip.” However, Drake – who was among the big winners, i.e. earning the “Video of the Year” award – pulled out the show just hours before the show, giving the following explanations:
Thank you to BET and to the fans for voting! I'm home finishing the album and spending time w/ family before we begin our journey Sept 17.
