COMME des GARÇONS continues to churn out compelling numbers with its diverse subsidiaries range. Its GANRYU COMME des GARÇONS subline doesn’t fail to live up to expectations, with head designer Fumito Ganryu merging sensibilities both modish and casual in its 2014 spring/summer offerings. In line with summer motifs, Ganryu utilizes bright hues in color block and striped designs, while the quaint use of plaid is present throughout. With youthfulness at its center, Ganryu’s experimental techniques can be seen via pleated iterations to classic CDG shirts alongside selvage denim drop-crotch renditions. Meanwhile, the last few season’s androgynous motifs are furthered by billowy bottoms and drape-like shorts, coming in contrary to the muted blazers and pullovers that herald more traditional tailoring techniques.
