Forest Swords – The Weight of Gold

It’s been relatively quiet around Matthew Barnes, aka Forest Swords, after he released his impressive Dagger Paths EP back in 2010. Things changed last month as the Wirral native (North England) unveiled his new record “Thor’s Stone” in preparation for his upcoming debut full-length Engravings, which is due August 26 via Tri Angle Records. Now, a second track off of that project has emerged. It is titled “The Weight of Gold” and it’s just as intriguing. It proves yet again Barnes’ atmospheric instrumentation that touches a multitude of genres. Along with the song, he sent out following message: “Life’s too fucking short.” We couldn’t agree more, so don’t hesitate and check this tune out.
