If you recall last year, M.I.A. made some plans on releasing a documentary but somehow some behind the scenes footage made its rounds today when it was leaked by the documentary’s director Steve Loveridge. Though it’s not clear on his Tumblr page, from what we can piece together, “label interferences” seem to have come into play, leading him to quit the project. And while the footage had appearances from Diplo, Kanye West, Switch, Jimmy Iovine and Spike Jonze, the clip itself was removed due to copyright infringement after being originally uploaded by Loveridge himself (we have a the footage above). Loveridge also went on his Tumblr to post an email conversation with a representative from Roc Nation, who explained that Roc Nation was moving forward with the project along the timeline of her Matangi album and upcoming festival performances. Read the full exchange below:
M.I.A. has suggested a Kickstarter since the project is “black listed through normal channels.”
