Converse & Union present Michael Shields: The Anatomy of LA @ Martha Otero Gallery

Known for his photographic examinations of the City of Angels’ geography and infrastructure, Los Angeles-based photographer Michael Shields is set to open his latest solo exhibition at the Martha Otero Gallery later this month. Presented by Converse and Union and entitled “The Anatomy of LA,” Shields’ work a different perspective of LA — the infrastructure and the impact it has on its citizens. Taken from high above the city in active duty LAPD helicopters, the imagery does well to capture the fleeting moments that are typically missed while other pieces encompass more than 15 miles of landscape in a single picture. Providing a new take on the city, Shields’ “The Anatomy of LA” is set to open July 25 and serve as the official release of the book.
