Here comes a special type of musical congregation that you probably don’t come across every day.
Here comes a special type of musical congregation that you probably don’t come across every day. Meet Exquisite Delegates — a multicultural hip-hop collective based in Shanghai. Founded by Dutch Moroccan MC Amine and Canadian-Chinese producer Sunbiz, the duo is making sure that the Chinese metropolis is represented accordingly within the hip-hop landscape with their new self-titled album. The piece is built on a multi-layered collage of genre-bending sound influences. Before you listen to their offering, Amine gives a brief recount on the band’s history and the concept of their LP:
Sonny and I have been in Shanghai for a while now working in music production. After starting our own company and working individually on different passion projects as producers we felt it was time to make our own album, creating the sound that we love. Hence the inception of Exquisite Delegates.
Shanghai has an amazing and vibrant energy but is also transient, fast and very commercial.
As creatives, this can sometimes suppress the very thing creatives love to do…creating their own.
This project represents people from different walks of life and disciplines coming together for their love of craft. The design, photography, upcoming videos are all collaborations with artists/professionals/friends who devote to that dedication.
In addition, the group has also released an accompanying photo project that can be viewed here.
