The Weeknd - John Carpenter (Snippet)

The Weeknd gives us a preview of what he’s been up to since he released the Trilogy collection by posting a 21-second snippet of a new track called “John Carpenter” to his YouTube account. Fuzzy VHS quality distorts the graphics and audio so that we can barely make out what’s going on. It appears that the XO affiliate is standing in front of a soundboard swaying back and forth to his latest tune. The song is presumably named after the filmmaker of the same name who created dark horror films in the ’70s and ’80s. Maybe The Weeknd watched Carpenter’s films on VHS and wanted to capture a similar quality with this preview as a tribute. The snippet of ”John Carpenter” is our first glimpse into The Weeknd’s official debut album, Kiss Land, which is coming soon.
