A highly successful campaign on Kickstarter saw Singapore-based Pirate3D far surpass its $100,000 fundraising goal for its newest product: The Buccaneer. While 3D printing is still in its relative infancy, like any other industry, small wins continue to usher the product into mass use. The Buccaneer stirs the pot by making 3D printing from home an affordable goal – $347 USD, to be exact. Further, Pirate3D hopes to unveil a simplified CAD software alongside the printer, aiding newcomers to the design process. Drawing from this and other recent developments, all signs seem to point to the adoption of 3D printing in households worldwide. If so inclined, head over to Pirate 3D’s Kickstarter page to join in the action.
