The story of Del Toro is twofold. Foremost, its a lifestyle footwear brand that simultaneously marries American luxury with Italian effortlessness, creating a unique story that has attracted a wide and famous fanbase. On the other hand, it’s the story of a young man’s determination and grit, one that took ownership of an idea and ran with it. In the last sense then, it’s fitting that Matt Chevallard‘s Del Toro is a footwear company. From a New England prep school dorm, Chevallard has led his ship through the thick and thin of entrepreneurship, and in the process has made his selection of premium footwear and accessories undeniable amongst the young and tasteful. As with Del Toro’s frequently understated silhouettes, Chevallard bears much in the way of details. Items such as Cartier bracelets and the keys to an Audi S7 may look small on paper, but their implications are overtly refined. The young creative also represents his company proudly, as evidenced by the wallet, USB and premium Nappa leather bag amongst his belongings. The juxtaposition of Del Toro with other brands in this edition of Essentials though, makes for an interesting case on the promising future of both the company and Chevallard himself. Enjoy the above.
