In the second installment of “In Residence” from LVMH’s editorial blog site NOWNESS, filmmaker Matthew Donaldson visits the London home of industrial designer Marc Newson. Commonly introduced as one of the most influential designers of the of the last quarter century, Newson’s ability to challenge society’s stifled imagination has allowed him to create within a wide range of disciples, from transportation to sculpture, earning him numerous awards and accolades that includes honorary degrees, a slot on Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World list, as well as appointments to the CBE and The Royal Designer for Industry by Queen Elizabeth II. Dwelling in London with his stylist wife and two children, the Australian native’s design sensibilities can be seen throughout his family’s loft-like home, however coupled with his wife’s knack for coordinating competing elements.
