According to his portfolio-centered personal website, James Kirkup spends his days as a designer for creative digital agency Poke with clients that include LCD Soundsystem, Ted Baker, Mulberry, Mappin & Webb, Skype, and The Goldsmiths to name a few. His extracurricular activities however show no bound; be it his work as a freelance digital architect building everything from distinct brand logos to fully-operational websites; Co-Founder of artistically-centered graphical T-shirt brand Twin Apparel; and Co-Founder of the recently-revitalized cultural publication-turned-party thrower Fragment London. Taking time away from his award-winning creations in digital branding, James recently linked with the HYPEBEAST crew to offer his take on our always popular Essentials introspect. A modest display of daily travel needs, James highlights a few items he could not live or work without. A Nike FuelBand ensures he’s staying fit, while his Independent Coffee Guide travel book keeps him caffeinated with true efficiency. Additionally, James makes it clear he’s always on the hunt for new inspirations to his vast portfolio carrying books like Supergraphics and Ways of Seeing, as well as a couple 7” vinyls from Double Denim Records.
