In New York, it was vintage Duckie Brown all over again. As in seasons past, Steven Cox and Daniel Silver asked the essential question “Why?” though this time, it resulted in one of their stronger collections in recent memory. The pair known to many for their Skittle-colored Florsheim brogues focused this season on outerwear and turning layering on its head — shorter bombers over longer coats, for instance, or denim jackets under oversized sweatshirts. Not that long-under-short was anything groundbreaking, but the majority of these looks in their capable hands were well-conceived and almost flawlessly executed. Elsewhere, double-layered pants, mixed-media construction and flashes of pink, baby blue and bright red resulted in elegant, compelling takes on color and proportion.
