DQM x Vans 2013 Holiday Authentic "HBT"

Taking inspiration from the Herringbone Twill (HBT) uniform introduced during World War II comes the “HBT” edition of the Vans Authentic produced exclusively for DQM for Holiday 2013. Constructed of heavyweight 8.2-ounce cotton herringbone twill, the original WWII production consisted of an olive drab shirt, matching trousers, and a circular-billed utility cap – all meant to be worn over the basic wool uniforms for added protection, but a design that ultimately proved perfect as a primary form of dress for warm weather and tropical climates. Taking design cues from the original HBT uniforms and giving them a bit of an apropos twist, DQM incorporated a subtle camouflage pattern throughout the footwear thanks to the highs and lows created by a unique enzyme process. Thus, camo colorways of Jungle, Desert and Ocean are joined by eyelets with a saltwater patina, siping throughout the rubber outsole, a pigskin flag label, and round leather laces – all nods to the Vans of old and the nautical past of the SoCal brand. Finally, branded insoles and a signature heel tab complete the package. The collaborative “HBT” edition of the iconic Authentic will be available exclusively at The Vans DQM General’s New York and Boston locations, as well as DQM’s online store, beginning November 15.
