Previously the frontman of ’90s English alternative rock band Catherine Wheel, singer/guitarist Rob Dickinson left music for his first love — cars — and founded Singer Vehicle Design in 2009. Chiefly inspired by the 964 model of the Porsche 911 that was built between 1990 and 1994, his California-based company is dedicated to the “passionate study, preservation and optimization of the world’s most respected high performance vehicles through modern techniques and unique and fresh perspectives.” Dickinson’s obsession, however, has always been the reimagination and restoration of the ultimate optimized air-cooled Porsche 911.
