Burberry to Appoint Christopher Bailey as Chief Creative & Chief Executive Officer

After reporting healthy first-half figures for 2013, Burberry have announced that Chief Executive Officer Angela Ahrendts will step down from her role in the middle of 2014. Her replacement will be Christopher Bailey, the Chief Creative Officer at Burberry, who will also continue to serve in this role as he takes on this daunting responsibility. Interestingly, Angela Ahrendts becomes the latest executive to be plucked from the fashion industry by Apple, after the acquisition of Paul Deneve from Yves Saint Laurent earlier this year. The future of Burberry now rests on the shoulders of the lauded designer and his 13 years of experience with the British luxury fashion house provides hope for a CEO transition that is natural and seamless. Christopher Bailey has humbly stated that he looks to build on the strong foundation left by his predecessor, while also pushing forward with Burberry as a world leading digital luxury brand. Peep the video below, which features Burberry Chairman Sir John Peace sitting down with Angela Ahrendts and Christopher Bailey to talk about this historic transition.
