Interspersed with flamboyant billboards that exceed any run-of-the-mill form of advertising, it comes as no surprise that the muralists at Colossal Media finds “The Big Apple” as a perfect canvas for their craft. Dubbed “Wall Dogs,” mural painters have exercised their expressive art form since the mid 1800s. Here, Jason Coatney and Armando Balmaceda offers a scope into another workday in the skies for Tumblr’s STORYBOARD series, exposing the details needed to execute these paintings even as the harsh weather beats against their hefty raincoats. While the hectic city continues beneath, the crew brush away with their melange of paint cans, adding their own piece of mind to the New York landscape.
