Week after week, 60 Minutes continues to be a source of information that finds a way to examine the human condition – whether through conflict journalism to the more subdued yet frenzied world of international fútbol. Bob Simon recently traveled to Barcelona to examine the cultural phenomenon of FC Barcelona – arguably the most popular club in the world and a squad boasting a who’s who of international superstars – with none bigger than Argentinian Lionel Messi. Examining their youth program called “La Masia” which has produced amongst others Messi, Fabregas, Piqué and others, the piece unearths their recipe for success while also exploring the Catalan pride that drives the club and fan base. Sandro Rosell, President of FC Barcelona, describes it as such: “It’s in your blood, it’s in your heart.”
