Fresh off its debut as a public IPO early this summer, Facebook is still growing rapidly and in dire need of an expansion to its corporate head office in Palo Alto, California. However, rather than simply add on to the existing campus, founder Mark Zuckerberg has commissioned renowned Los Angeles architect Frank Gehry to design an entirely new campus across the street from the existing one. The 10-acre layout is designed around a singular, community-like environment that fosters greater collaboration and a highly dynamic floor plan that flows naturally from workspace to workspace. Of course, it wouldn’t be the office of a wildly successful dotcom without a few unique amenities like outdoor-terraced cafes like sushi and barbecue, an extensive network of arcades and curvaceous work benches, or the massive and lush rooftop-encompassing garden.
