British designer and recent London College of Fashion graduate John Alexander Skelton has just unveiled his first major solo collection for Fall/Winter 2012. Called “British Lion,” the collection is themed around the uniforms of London’s working class, as well as the colors worn by several notorious gangs in Liverpool. Granted, Skelton doesn’t condone the violence they were perpetrating – he was fascinated by their use of rugged outdoor clothing as a means of a uniform identification, and thus his own personal collection was born. The trousers and coats from the line are almost militant in their utilitarianism; being predominantly black, and with bursts of contrasting color.
