The name “Hennessy” is as synonymous with cognac as the French town from which the eponymous spirit was born. In this video short from filmmaker Dustin Lynn, we’re transported to Hennessy’s cellars at Château Bagnolet in Cognac, France to skyscrapers in Shanghai for the official reveal and tasting of Hennessy’s new cognac blend, V.S.O.P (Very Superior Old Pale). The short also captures in rich detail the rituals of wood, air and spirit behind the production of Hennessy’s new cognac, which gathers over 60 varieties of eaux-de-vie (fruit brandies) and spends 15 years aging before it can be enjoyed. The introduction of the sleek, new redesign of the V.S.O.P bottle was part of the tasting event, but of course it was the contents of the bottle that matter the most.
