Back in March, we reported that Depeche Mode has recorded 20 songs ready to be featured on the followup to 2009’s Sounds Of The Universe. The band’s frontman Dave Gahan has now confirmed that the collective should finish work on their new album later this year. In a conversation with Spin, Gahan revealed that Speaking to Spin, Gahan revealed that the recording sessions on the untitled new long-player were progressing quickly and that there was “no reason” why the record shouldn’t be completed by the end of 2012. In addition, he hinted at potential live dates in 2013.
“We have a deadline of the end of November, and there’s no reason why we won’t meet that at the rate we’re going.There are already plans in place to be touring next year.”
The iconic band released Sounds Of The Universe in 2009 while earlier this year, founding member Martin Gore collaborated with the band’s former keyboardist and songwriter Vince Clarke under the moniker VCMG, releasing their debut album, Ssss, in March.
