A longstanding favorite of Top Gear drivers, and BMW aficionados alike, the venerable BMW M-Series has just turned 40. Of course, 40 years ago, it was known as the “M Division,” which was created to manage BMW’s burgeoning racing operations. To celebrate this anniversary of BMW Motorsports, BMW has released a series of beautiful photographs that follow the vehicles from the M line from its inception, to where it is today.
