For Fall/Winter 2012, Michael Bastian chose to take his eponymous GANT sub-line back to the ’80s. Equal parts contemporary progressive, neo-prep and college kitsch, the collection offered an impressive array of staple items. From skinny cargos, textured cords and crisp chambray shirts, to double-breasted sportcoats mingled with wallet chains and fingerless gloves – the show was a true amalgamation of color, pattern and design. Although most of the looks would be slightly overbearing for average consumers to wear in their entirety, each standalone garment could easily work their way into any man’s autumn wardrobe.
