Just this past week Hostess, maker of the Twinkie and others fine snacks from our childhood, announced that it would be shutting down and selling off its assets. With that in mind it was only fitting that photographer Dwight Eschliman would pay tribute to the much loved little snack. Titled “37 or So Ingredients,” the latest project from Eschliman sees the photographer reducing the Twinkie down its basic 37 ingredients. Based on the 37 ingredients listed by Steve Ettlinger in his book Twinkie, Deconstructed, Eschliman shot each individual ingredient to show just what we’re putting into our system every time we bite into a Twinkie. An interesting and thought-provoking look at the humble snack, click through the photos for a rarely seen look at the snack; we just hope that it doesn’t completely disappear from the local convenience store’s shelves.
