Trixie Whitley has teamed up with famed filmmaker Matthu Placek to visualize her latest single “A Thousand Thieves.” As the daughter of the late and great blues legend Chris Whitley has spent most of her years between Belgium and New York, a melange of cultural contrasts can be experienced through her smoky vocals and sensitive tunes. The songstress has spent the past two years recording and touring with Black Dub, the band producer Daniel Lanois who worked with Brian Eno on U2’s The Joshua Tree and has produced records for artists like Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Willie Nelson. After meeting at New York salon Le Poisson Rouge during one of her performances, Whitley and Placek joined forces for the shooting of “A Thousand Thieves” which found her standing in a Balenciaga dress singing into four high-powered fans over a 14-hour day to the single take. Enjoy!
