Last year, one indie artist that made his mark was 17-year-old British crooner, songwriter and musician Archy Marshall. He started the year off with a bang as his music under the name Zoo Kid began spreading rapidly throughout the internet. But once it seemed as though the intriguing video for the red-haired youngster’s single, “Out Getting Ribs,” was just about everywhere, he took a bit of a turn in direction. Since he won’t be a “kid” forever, Marshall opted for a new name, King Krule, and continued releasing material. Although some fans might still be stuck on his old moniker, the music of King Krule has catapulted Marshall onto the radar of many respected music critics, writers and publications as an artist to watch for in 2012. One of the songs that helped push him upward last year was “The Noose of Jah City,” which can be found on the King Krule EP that came out in November. Also on that five-track project is a song called “Portrait In Black and Blue,” which Marshall decided to perform recently at Brooklyn venue Live @ Shea Stadium. Present at the scene was renowned San Francisco-based crew Yours Truly, who filmed the performance in crisp high-definition. Check it out above.
