Upon receiving rave reviews for the visuals coinciding with her now-heralded track “212,” Harlem’s Azealia Banks has since begun hitting the radar of a number of high-profile acts within the music business. Her latest fan, being revered as one of the most talented artists in the industry, Kanye West, has seemingly already reached out to the young female rapper.
In further solidifying her hype, BBC has recently named her number three on their list of artists to look out for in 2012. Coinciding with the positive nod, they recently sat down with the former stage-school student to speak on her come up, as well as her affinity for sexual lyricism. See a short excerpt from the interview below, and then head on over to BBC to read the article in its entirety.
“A lot of people aren’t comfortable with their sexuality,” explains Banks.
“There are women who are curious about other women and haven’t had the courage to go there.
“One person said to me, ‘When I listen to 212, I feel that someone understands me. I feel like I have a best friend telling me that all these things that I want to do are ok.’”
