It’s been a three-and-a-half year period of inactivity since Bloc Party’s third album Intimacy was released while lead singer Kele Okereke embarked on a solo career. After initial reports that the band were auditioning for a new lead singer towards the end of last year. Okereke took to the airwaves and had a chat with Radio 1’s Zane Lowe yesterday to set the record straight.
The frontman not only confirmed that he was still a Bloc Party member, but the band were also working on a fourth album in New York, having already recorded two songs and completed 17 demos. Referring to their latest work as “not sounding like anyone else on the planet.” Good news for Bloc Party fans that the band are back together again. However, there’s no set date for the release of their fourth LP except that it will surface at some point in 2012.
Check the video for their last single from the Intimacy LP – “One Month Off,” released in December 2008.
