Karakuri Short Film

BBC’s Blog offers a fascinating video about Karakuri – a traditional Japanese automaton craft that evolved from clockwork technology. Thousands of years old, Karakuri involves incredible skill and supreme patience as each tiny machine built could be thrown off-balance by the slightest incongruence in weight or design. Pharrell has been very into local, time-honored crafts lately since his collaboration with Italian glassblowers Berengo Studio, so it makes sense that this Karakuri video would be deemed worthy of posting on his brand’s blog.
