Taking an unexpected but well-executed departure from their usual downtempo, ethereal sound, this single follows the path of “Viva la Vida” – one of the more upbeat and pop-influenced songs in their catalog. It will be interesting to see if “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” is indicative of a real musical shift for the band, or merely serving as a radio-friendly lead single for an upcoming album of staples. Either way, the surprisingly feel-good track will be available soon on iTunes.
