By now you’ve most likely heard Kreayshawn’s high fashion rebuke, “Gucci Gucci,” and seen her strut through LA with her cohort Lil Debbie and members of Odd Future in the video that accompanies it. The clip went viral within hours of its release two Mondays ago, and shortly after that major label A&R’s were taking to their phones and e-mails in attempt to converse with the Oakland representer. Last Friday, Kreayshawn and her White Girl Mob performed in San Francisco in front of a sold out crowd. It was their first headlining concert, and while plenty of fans came out to see the anti-basic-bit*h trifecta hit the stage, the plethora of major label representatives in attendance made the performance something of a showcase as well. Despite the fact that most people have probably only heard one song from Kreayshawn and it’s uncertain how the less blog-savvy market will feel about her, record deal offers have been flowing in steadily over the past two weeks and a bidding war between labels has ensued. No official statement has been made from her camp stating whether or not she has pulled the trigger and shaken hands with the big wigs yet, but Miss Info released information the other day that Miss Shawn has in fact already inked a deal under Sony Music for “over a million dollars.” If this is true, what do you think about it and how fast has it all happened? “Gucci Gucci” is certainly a catchy song with the potential to become infectious this summer, but is it a wise investment for such a large amount of money? Will she be able to solidify herself with follow-up hits, or will this one song be the highlight of her career? Feel free to discuss below.
