The music of Abel Tesfaye, otherwise known as The Weeknd, is new to almost everyone, but has been receiving a strong push from Drake via his Twitter and blog over the past month. While it may appear to be a simple case of “big artist tries to put on unknown artist from the same hometown,” The Weeknd’s unique lo-fi R&B sound stands out from the music of his mentor.
