After more than just a little while, we get to hear the ninth audible installment of the Smashing Pumpkins’s momentous 44-track album Teargarden By Kaleidyscope, entitled “Lightning Strikes.” The band’s frontman Billy Corgan, who turned 44 yesterday, states that the energetic tune was originally written for The Electric Prunes since the band’s bassist Mark Tulin recently passed away. The song is also dedicated to the Smashing Pumpkins fans in Japan.
“I found an element in it that suggested a bigger picture, and unfortunately I stole it back from them. The lyric in my mind combines the isolation of modern life with the need for a never ending romantic story.”
“Lightning Strikes” will be available for download at the band’s website, but you can listen to it below.
