For many indie enthusiasts, Tennis’s debut album, Cape Dory, was one of the best of this year. During the months since its January release, the husband-and-wife duo from Denver, Colorado have been on a steady incline. But with a rise in fans comes a rise in demand for new music. Luckily for everyone who’s been craving it, Tennis has been hard at work on their sophomore album, which we now know some solid information about. Entitled Young & Old, the LP will be released on Valentine’s Day 2012 by way of Fat Possum Records. The entire project was produced in collaboration with Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, and the first single off of it can attest to that. This brand new song, “Origins,” maintains the general feel of the surf-pop-infused music that Tennis has become known for, but it does sound the slightest bit Keys-influenced in its soundscape. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, though. Listen to the track now, and grab it on limited edition blue vinyl as a 7” double A-side single on December 6 via Forest Family Records. If you’re eager to ensure that you get your hands on one of the 1,000 discs, head over to Plastic in Paper or Insound to place a pre-order.
