"Massimo Vignelli" by John Madere

The last half of 2010 saw director John Madere release this short documentary film on Milanese designer Massimo Vignelli. Vignelli stars in the production, talking us through his vision of modernist design. Aiming to avoid ephemeral designs in favour of timeless staples, Vignelli not only makes comment on the production and technological evolution of product design, but also on the ways in which it has advanced. Budding graphic designers should also keep an ear out for advice on what makes an artist great.
