Our top 10 stories from the past week including a bit of commentary regarding their selection. Check it out after the jump.

OriginalFake x Star Wars Storm Trooper Kaws Companion Preview

With so many possibilities in the pipeline as OriginalFake enters a solid relationship with Star Wars, what can we expect next? Yoda?

Canon PowerShot G10

Although not a camera I use, this will be the upgrade plenty of G9 users and people looking for a more feature-comprehensive point&shoot will want. Then again who can really blame them considering the one thing the G9 lacked in a wider perspective has now been remedied slightly with a 28 mm lens. Still wouldn’t be caught dead carrying a brick that is the G-series around with me.

HYPEBEAST TV: Strategic Synchronicity Interview with Futura

Nothing really needs to be said, however an interesting note that this represents Futura’s first solo exhibit. Judging by reactions and images, this will definitely be hard to follow-up on with an even better exhibit destined for London.

Burton x Carhartt 2008 Fall/Winter Collection

Followers of Steven Vogel will quickly understand his strong stance towards this whole streetwear thing which ensures that his overseeing of the Burton x Carhartt collection doesn’t succumb to a poorly thought-out collaboration. The timeless Carhartt aesthetic given a technical spin is something truly worth checking out.

Livestock x Reigning Champ Hoodie

The creation of this Livestock x Reigning Champ hoodie may pass over the heads of many for its strong regionally relevant concept. If you have never been down with Pacific Northwestern Native American culture, the symbolic totem pole and its traditional styles are all be meaningless to you. Yet taking something a theme that both LS and RC share in having a strong Vancouver-based foundation, the direction makes perfect sense for this hoodie due to Vancouver’s strong aboriginal relations. Not everybody’s cup of tea I imagine, but sometimes the things that make the most sense don’t need to be totally understood.

Black Lightning x Shadow Conspiracy

I’ll be quick to admit that aside from the likes of Black Lightning and Shadow Conspiracy as well as various component builders, I’m not all that familiar with BMX-based labels/apparel brands. I felt this graphic captured very well the aesthetics of both brands quite nicely with the lightning bolts held by skeleton hands which link nicely to Shadow Conspiracy’s theme.

HUF 2008 Fall Collection

HUF makes it in the top 10 this week once again, but can you really blame them with something like this which shows a definite big step as the brand comes full-circle to offer such an expansive list of products and above all else aid in the ushering in of a generation of streetwear 2.0.

City in Progress featuring Paul Mittleman

I can’t speak for all but I think that offering the outlook of a burgeoning city through the eyes of somebody like Paul Mittleman of Stussy really hits the mark. There’s a bit (dependent on personal views) of an ability to relate to the subject matter or a common ground which allows for the messages and concepts to be a little more understood. Coming away from his Honeyee feature, I think you get a much better grasp of how Russia is developing… next up somebody needs to do one on China.

BNE x realmad HECTIC 3-Layer Jacket

I find this piece rather intriguing as well as the whole development of BNE himself as somebody who rose to notoriety thanks largely in part to his worldwide sticker-tagging conquests. Regardless his team-up with the HECTIC crew turned out nice, nothing ground-breaking on the design front but a good technical piece nonetheless with the details throughout and the waterproof necessities.

FUCT SSDD 2008 Fall/Winter Items

Having a tremendous respect for the works of Erik Brunetti and FUCT, I look forward to this upcoming SSDD Collection. I personally prefer to start with a clean slate which comes under my influence rather then looking in the direction of pre-distressed garments. However I think the SSDD approach hits the mark otherwise with a collection that features authentic detailing and really captures what the collection itself represents with accurate wear and little illustrative details.
