This week is probably best summed up with the release of our first item as part of our 3 year anniversary collection of collaborations. Our first release, the HYPEBEAST x Subcrew “Hypecrew” Hats, was well received as we moved all the units within half an hour. Hopefully this momentum can be sustained into our upcoming releases as well! Moving forward, a look into our staff picks for this week include the, Nike SB “Buzz Lightyear” Backpack, fragment design x Nike Zoom Tennis Classics, one of the most stunning Bearbricks in recent memory and Slam Jam and co.’s latest venture into the footwear segment.

Kevin – Nike SB 2008 “Buzz Lightyear” Backpack

My first choices this week were the Fragment Design x Nike Zoom Tennis Classic Panda Pack and the Layered Bearbrick but those were taken by my colleagues already so here’s my third choice, the Nike SB “Buzz Lightyear” Backpack. The colors on this backpack is just so dope plus there’s so many pockets on it so you literally won’t run out of space. HYPEBEAST mode is on this summer when I get this bag.

Jason – fragment design x Nike Zoom Tennis Classic Panda Pack

Another solid effort on hand to raise funds for the Sichuan Earthquake disaster in this collabo between Nike and fragment design. More notably, the project hits closer to home as it references the majestic giant panda which during the earthquake went missing and unaccounted for. Aside from a clean and simple aesthetic of black and white (which is very much becoming synonymous with HF), the “Sichuan Jia You” slogan to motivate the people of Sichuan for recovery is a nice touch.

Season – Medicom Toy 2008 Exhibition Wooden Bearbrick

When was the last time I see something on my computer screen and I say…”I WANT THIS NOW”… ummmm oops actually I did that few days ago when I see the Daikanyama Supreme Backpack on the site. For a moment there, I felt like a HYPEBEAST. Anyways, this 400% Wooden Layered Be@rbrick is soooo nicely done and unique especially when its made with different kinds of woods. I haven’t bought Bearbricks for a long long while but I really do want this as part of my Bearbrick collection. Unfortunately, this bear is limited 150 pieces and only to Japan. I was reading a local magazine the other day, and I saw this Bearbrick being re-sold $6280HKD. (approximately $805USD) ARGH. There is no way I am gonna spend so much money on a toy ever again. If it’s a 1000% instead of a 400%, I wouldn’t mind spending those cash, but its $805USD for a 400% bearbrick. It’s just too much, but I am so in love with this bear. “LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT”…

Eugene – Be Positive 2008 Fall/Winter Collection

Like many, I’m sure I’m not the only one at a crossroads for footwear. Much like I’ve traded in more and more t-shirts for more button-downs, I’ve seen an apparent shift in what sort of footwear really interests me. Don’t get me wrong, but sneakers are still dope and get me excited once in a blue moon, but the new and upcoming trends of mashing up sneakers and more classical designs always have me taking a second look. Be Positive has all the makings of a solid brand, a solid background and a good eye for design seems to have really shown itself in this inaugural collection.
