Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton "Monogramouflage" Collection

With all the interest surrounding Murakami’s most recent showing at the Brooklyn Museum and last years popularity of his Louis Vuitton branded products at the Los Angeles MOCA, another range of products will be available this time around. Revoling around designs combining LV’s popular monogram picture and with imagery of camo, the end product Monogramouflage will be seen over a variety of products and leather goods. The items will release January 1st at the Brooklyn Museum with a further release slated for June 15th at LV Stores worldwide. In an ironic move, a series of 10 booths will be set out in street vendor style as purveyors of the LV products. Nike’s much anticipated exhibition, Being True, curated by Aaron Rose and Emma Reeves, is opening tonight at the 114 LAB in Los Angeles. The exhibit is a celebration for the 22nd anniversary of the iconic Nike Dunk. The photographs exhibited will try to capture what the Dunk represents and how it has influenced, not only the streetwear industry, but our entire culture. The exhibition space is very simple and clean, giving way for the images to speak their message. However, the floor with its white, red, and black dots, gives an intriguing personality to the overall space. If you’re in the area, this is definitely worth checking out. In addition a special opening party was recently held with many big names in attendance from the likes of Tour de France marvel Lance Armstrong, to artists Kaws and Eric Haze among others. Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton at Brooklyn Museum

Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton at Brooklyn Museum

Before we posted about the Murakami’s exhibition at the Brooklyn museum, and tonight is the opening night for special guests which will include a performance by the Louis Vuitton Don, Kanye West, and the usual 550 sq. ft. Louis Vuitton boutique. However, this event is special because authentic Monogramouflage canvases and LV hangbags will be sold on the streets outside of the museum, mocking the usual street vendor counterfeiters. Louis Vuitton has taken a bold and clever step against their counterfeiting enemies as the CEO of Louis Vuitton, Yves Carcell, told WWD, “We think that by highlighting it in a happening way and not in a boring way, it will make everybody more aware.” This will definitely be an unique shopping experience, buying thousand-dollar-bags off street vendor carts.
