Colette x Ralph Lauren RUGBY

First launched in 2004 in Boston, RUGBY by Ralph Lauren is a concept derived and inspired by American colleges where the sport of rugby often correlated with Polos. Now for the first time, Ralph Lauren will be bringing their RUGBY line which was previously exclusive to American stores to Colette in Paris. A selection of the 2007 RUGBY line will be available at Colette during the World Cup of Rugby (which is held in France) between September 3rd and September 15, 2007. In addition to the Rugby collection, Ralph Lauren and Colette will be partnering up to release four limited edition Rugby shirts and a special RUGBY ball. Only 50 of these shirts (two styles for men and two styles for women) will be available at Colette and at the RUGBY New York store during this time. Colette 213 Street Saint-Honore 75001 Paris

Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton x MoCA

Takashi Murakami x Louis Vuitton x MoCA

In an unprecedented move in American museum history, Japanese pop-artist Takashi Murakami’s upcoming “© Murakami” exhibition will have a mini pop-up Louis Vuitton store in the exhibition. Unlike conventional retail spaces in museum environments that operate outside the showing area, the pop-up store will actual be operated right in the middle of the exhibition. Among the items available for sale are special pieces created for this MoCA (Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles) show such as leather goods and handbags. The art derived reasoning behind this concept is best described as a tie-in with the commercialization of Murakami’s art alongside the breaking of barriers between low and high art (which has been Murakami’s intentions all along). The store itself will operate as it’s own entity and MoCA will not receive any proceeds from the sale of LV goods. The show runs from October 29th to February 11th. Image: LA Times via Supertouch
