Rounding out the Air Force 1 releases designed by Bobbito Garcia is this third “Pilgrim” installment. This sneaker features the use of four different materials in leather, suede, mesh/canvas and patent leather. The inspiration for these sneakers came from a simplistic idea of a basketball uniform he once wore featuring an Almighty Force League shirt paired with light blue Bounce Magazine shorts. These will release in mid-June during the same time as the City Series New York releases of AF1’s.

New Balance is set to release a new artist series 574 model later this year in August. The artwork on the sneaker was designed by Sean D’Anconio, brand manager of Enjin as well as creator of the Big Puff Maki vinyls. This Canadian artist created a 574 themed after 1970’s grindhouse cinema with the use of imagery regarding the skyscrapers of Hong Kong, streets of Harlem, kung-fu and the Yakuza. Quentin Tarantino’s release of the movie Grindhouse is an example of the type of exploitation graphics that you will see on this 574.
This relationship between D’Anconio and New Balance actually began in 2006 when D’Anconio customized 20 figures for John D. Franklin of NB for the Las Vegas Pool tradeshow, and now the customization for D’Anconio has turned to shoes rather than vinyl.
