THE BRILLIANCE has a new interview up with a fresh hip-hop act out of Chicago called ‘The Cool Kids.’
This is just really good stuff here. The Cool Kids are seriously a breath of fresh air in a totally stale room full of totally uninteresting hip-hop acts. They embody a lifestyle/image that’s a bit of throw-back to the 80’s when hip-hop was all about having a good time while representing a little of the future as well, showing us something we’ve yet to see. The beats, the lyrics, the fashion, the presence, the ‘hey, just have fun’ attitude…their whole swagger – The Cool Kids are brilliant.
It’s a great interview – and they’re HYPEBEAST fans! Pay attention to these guys.
Phenomenon just released some new tees as part of their Spring collection. The tees included in this release are the Kaffiyeh Tee featuring the controversial Middle Eastern pattern reworked into a perfect circle, the “Something Like a Phenomenon Tee” with the symbol for the number 1 or Ichiban beneath the graphic, the Guns and Roses Tee featuring soldiers with assault rifles embedded in the chintzy florals, and the Diagram Tee featuring a houndstooth like pattern of Stars, Triangles or Squares. All tees look great but I’m playing favorites with the Diagram tees. The spring line will be available at select shops like Union in NYC and Arrive the first week of April.
Stussy has just created a website to display the artwork of photographer Josh Cheuse. This website provides background information about Josh and showcases the Rockers Galore project that he has worked on with Stussy.
Born in New York City in 1965, by the time he was sixteen Josh was photographing bands in the nightclubs that would become his second home. In 1981 he used the payphone at his high school to call The Clash at Electric Ladyland Studios in Manhattan and asked to photograph the band. What he got was an invitation to what would become a twenty-five year career creating photographs and artwork for the music world.
If you are a fan of his work, make sure you take a look at the Stussy x Josh Cheuse t-shirt releases. Check out the new website at Stussy Rockers Galore.
