There has been some controversy surrounding one of the sneakers being released as part of the Adicolor Project. One design, created by Barry McGee for the Huf sneakers in the Yellow Series, is garnering some backlash from the Asian community. The reason is because of the ‘Ray Fong’ character McGee made as a stitch design on the sneaker’s tongue. It depicts the face of a stereotypical Asian character – a buck-toothed, bowlcut, slanty eyed face – a depiction that is not exactly acceptable these days by the Asian community.
