I'm sure this has been covered but what are the legalities behind putting celebrity images on clothing?
Also wondering about this. For paintings also. Supreme used one for the Red Riding Hood tee and just slapped their name on it. Wonder if they had 'ok' to do so.

I think that painting was so old, it was public domain/

I know you're supposed to contact the photographer and/or person in the image but what do smaller brands do?

For example:
Don't get caught but you probably will.

If a painting or photo is owned by an individual, you will need legal authorization to use it. I'm pretty sure smaller brands will try to get away with using them and take the risk but bigger companies like Supreme would be stupid to do so.

If you look at Obey, they have been sued a few times for this same issue. I wish Obey would get raped in court for the plagiarism it has done over the years, so hopefully more artists will sue them for being nothing but scammers.

Interested in any criticism, we are based out of Santa Clarita (Los Angeles County) and have been doing pretty well with this brand for the last 8 months, shirts are only $12 and they are made from the same shirts that of Diamond Supply and The Hundreds, let me know what you think, thanks!

Solid designs with a great approach. Just not a fan of that little lighting bolt logo, feel like everyone has that shit.

Everything but the top shirt with the mickey hands and american flag is cool with me. Those two trends have been ran through by a countless number of brands. Good work, best of luck to you guys.

I've been holding back posting on here for a while.  I have started a company by myself called "Connected".  I'm not gonna give a whole long rant about how my line will change the world.  To be honest, I am only doing this because I love the culture and I love art.  I have been working on this company and doing research for the last year now and have finally found my printers and manufacturers I will need to embark on my journey.

Everyone is connected, and my goal is to express this through my clothing.
You can reach us on twitter, through email, and by visiting our website.

The first season will be releasing in the coming months as I am waiting on samples to finish arriving.  It is a simple season involving 2 white shirts, both with black graphics.  The title of the first season is "Simple is Underrated."  Here is a picture of the linesheet for this season, as well as a picture of the stickers we have available for free.  To receive a free sticker pack, simply email us @ connectedgoods@yahoo.com

Thanks for reading.

Question to all reading: what's a brand name you thought was really good?

For me, I really liked Anything, purely off the wordplay. Supreme because it really summed up the feeling of the brand, and the Fake Brand because the logo was pretty cool, and matched their clothes perfectly.

Honestly:

Runner Up. Because of the feel. It's in your face. Still a triumph. But darker still.

For me personally I dig Stray Rats, Supreme, FUCT, Patagonia, Nike. All great brands names.

honestly, any brand name can be good if executed correctly. it's all about the branding and design work that backs it up.

^Nah.

Something I've noticed a lot while going through karma loop, a lot of brands tend to do the same trends, I find myself looking for brands outside of Karma Loop because everything is looking the same on there.

Sunkist, for example? I disagree.

Branding is more than the artistic elements.

Were it not soda and major backing, Sunkist probably wouldn't do well.
