I've been reading through almost this entire thread, and I saw some comments about Supreme ripping off Polo etc.

I'm in the process of doing my own brand (who isn't ? ), and I have some vintage Polo inspired stuff. The brand, 2 years in the making, is Norwegian, and Made in Japan. We're stressing extreme good quality and fit, and off course nice designs, and the clothing is very limited. The tees are individually numbered (1 through 80), and stadium jackets are 1 through 40 only.
Now to my question. What do you generally think about taking inspiration from vintage Polo? Do you see it as ripping off? All the way when drawing, I thought about it as more of a homage to some classic designs, rather than a rip-offs. Reading through the thread gave me some seconds thoughts. Especially when some people hated what AG did, which is -to me- clearly a homage and not a rip-off.

I'd really like your views on this, from fellow Polo fans, before launching.

Theres a fine line between inspiration and biting. Absolutely nothing wrong from taking some tips from one of the most popular AMerican brands of all time. Thats a good thing. But yeah we'd have to see the items before we could tell.

Yeah, cause it's not meant as biting, since some of it is so Obviously taken from Polo. It's not like we're trying to claim it as our own.. but that's just it. Not sure if someone will misunderstand and see it as shameless biting.
The brand itself is not at all, all over Polo inspired, just one of the designs thus far. I have more in the plans for future collections (i.e. Cold Wave/Snow Beach insp. hoodies). Not sure if people will be mad if I mess with the classics..
Thanks for you input

Got this for $59. Immaculate condition. I'm usually an XL, but this sz L fits perfectly. I was kinda surprised, I was the only bidder.

I have a near-mint condition Polo Sport bomber-style jacket from 1993 for sale. From the infamous "SNOW BEACH" collection, similar to the ones seen worn by Raekwon in the Can It Be... video, and more recently by Just Blaze. This shit is a must-have for any true LO fanatics. PM me with offers, im looking for $500 minimum for this peice. Pickups in the Greater Toronto Area preferred!

These patches are on the upper left arm:

you cats slept on this coat. i woulda let it go for 3 or 4 hundo on here. i listed it on ebay and it went up to $610, until some kid offered $800, at which point i promptly ended the auction! i should mention i bought this joint from a crackhead broad on the street(who was actually wearing it at the time)for $50 bucks. bong bong.

^looks like a regular jacket to me. It would of been better if "Snow Beach" wasn't written on the sleeves

^I see what your saying but I would of preferred it on the front or back of the jacket. But hey its part of the "Snow Beach" collection so you can't go THAT wrong...just my opinion tho

am i the only one who thinks polo has way too many labels. I mean go on polo.com and your head will be spinning, they have so much inventory on there its nuts! They have like 20 dollar shirts and 1k shirts both with just a polo sign on it. Sure the nicer shirts are like some crazy cashmere blend or something, but the same logo on everything kinda kills it to me. I had no idea polo could be so expensive since you see like hobos wearing it on the street. But that black label stuff is crazy priced! I'm s ure it's nice quality, but still, just an observation...........

I love the choices. The expensive expensive stuff is insane, materials, crazy construction, the whole 9. I got a jacket on sale and even on sale it was alot for a jacket but vent holes, designed buttons and zippers espcially for the jacket. waterproof material was light but not shiney. jsut plain dope. and connoly leather piping and lining on the flaps. everytime your stick your hand in a pocket or zip up or down the jacket its butter soft leather but waterproof everwhere else like who does that shit? the pockets have spec pockets within pockets for your ipod...material is super thin i can feel the buttons on my ipod (throw back) and cell phone. just way thought out.

thats what i love aout it... you CANT tell how nice it is just by the logo.

actually, the nicest ralph lauren stuff has no logo, or a very discrete one... purple label is amazing, and rrl... rrl is probably my favorite label.
