Rare Footage of Prince at SNL's 40th Anniversary After-Party
The icon’s star-studded rendition of “Let’s Go Crazy.”
At Saturday Night Live‘s 40th anniversary special last year, the late, great Prince unexpectedly took to the stage for a star-studded performance with the likes of Jay Z, Rihanna, Jimmy Fallon, Maya Rudolph, Martin Short and Chris Rock. At Dave Chapelle’s suggestion and Fallon’s request, the legendary artist grabbed his guitar and launched into an energetic rendition of “Let’s Go Crazy,” accompanied by Rudolph on vocals and a mosh pit of A-list celebrities. Strangely enough, footage of the epic, three-hour-long extravaganza was almost impossible to find until Tim Kazurinsky — a cast member on the NBC show from 1981 to 1984 — posted a six-and-a-half minute video of Prince’s full impromptu performance on Friday. Watch the video in its entirety above, and read up on Saturday Night Live‘s tribute to the artist here.
