CBS has acquired the rights to creating a Training Day TV series with acclaimed producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Training Day director Antoine Fuqua at the helm. The plot will apparently follow the main characters at the LAPD in 2015, 15 years after the events of the film. While actors Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington won’t be reprising their roles of rookie LAPD Officer Jake Hoyt and Detective Alonzo Harris in the TV adaptation, rumors are also circulating about a switch in character, with the corrupt cop slated to be Caucasian and the rookie African-American. Deadline reports that the “Big 4” networks were allegedly in a bidding war over the Training Day show, which is officially now being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, Fuqua Films and Warner Bros. TV. Training Day series will be joining a slew of other film-to-TV adaptations on CBS, including a Rush Hour and Limitless spin-off series.
